Double Down 310D

We bought the Australian rights to this bull and surprisingly this compact bull has had a significant effect on our herd. Despite having a questionable EBV for birth weights, we have not experienced a problem and every one of his calves is top shelf for carcass weight and EMA. If you’re looking to increase the stature of your calves this is a great choice.

Royal Flesh 101Y

This was one of the first bulls that we invested in. We were not disappointed, His genetics have been closely held,  a classic King George 82U bull. This is an animal that will increase your retail yield. His Dam Star Bank 53R had a good milk score with a massive 1.5 score on the eye muscle area and the retail beef yield of 1.4 with the standard of .1 These traits were magnified in Royal Flesh. He has brought stature to all our bulls.

stands alone 300X

This unblemished bull has stood the test of time. I have never seen an unimpressive Stands Alone calf. From our side look at Mbali, Pretty Woman and PSILUVU in our stud. He is a muscled animal, much like Napoleon Dynamite (see below) with a massive retail yield of +2 where the breed average is .1. Stands Alone, like Royal Flesh, brings length to a carcass, which is one of the contributing factors to the huge retail yield.

REFERENCE DAMS

Wildwood Kara 4K

This is a big cow. She passes on her milking qualities; her retail yields are well above the breed average as are her EMA scores. We have found it to be true to type and that her calves, like her, are consistently all-rounders. She produced the Kara Lines at Six Star and at Wattle Grove such as for instance, Wattle Grove Merlin F67 and closer to home Bigwig Alphina, arguably one of the best animals we have bred, and BigWig Nakita N11, the winner of the junior class at the EKKA, reflecting in every respect a substantial structure and milking ability.

Reba 154F

This breed matriarch was an enormous cow with a mature counterweight score of 67, more than twice the breed standard; also reflected in her eye muscle area. Most importantly, she is the mother of the famous Ulysses 25U, Codiak Mr Black, Up to Specs Teeka 8T, Six Star Rare Commodity, Starbank 300X, Fully Loaded and a host of outstanding animals, which if they were even close to a show ring would have gained top honours.

Notta Pho-Finish 54P

This cow is another all-rounder. However, if you have any of her progeny in your herd you will know that she is the ultimate milker. Her carcass data is commendable and she scores high in the eye muscle area and the retail beef scores. Looking through her progeny she was used extensively by Notta because of her milking ability and also produced stars like Wattle Grove Ms Wattle, Mainstream E10, Mainstream E12 (these animals were well known for their milk production), Minnamurra 60W, and one of the best cows ever produced in Australia Six Star Pho-Finish G250 (the dam of the first Speckle Park interbreed Champion in Australia, Premier). She is also the dam of Riverhill 60W Line Drive 50 4Z who would find his way into the top 10 bulls ever produced in The Speckle Park Breed. At Bigwig we have outstanding performing Pho-Finish animals in BPP P118 and BGW P38.

OUR Dam Breeding Lines

ALPHINA BGW J1

At times you will get an animal that defies her EBV – this is BigWig Alphina BGW J1. Her EBV is good but this cow is excellent. She is by King George and out of Wildwood Kara 4K that had a milk score of 8. She looks after her calves and has a massive retail yield – powerful, thick and even throughout.

Abigail BGW J2

A typical W15R beauty, exceptionally broad and substantial; great feet and wonderful tracking. She brings substantial carcasses to all her calves, as did her dam Jannette of P.A.R 44H, dam of Theta 42T, dam of the World Champion, Hawkeye.

Notta Cadence 13C

We have flushing rights to this magnificent cow at Notta Ranch in Canada.

OUR SIRES Breeding Lines

BGW P2 Plato

This bull elevated our stud. He lost his show career to Covid but he has sired 20 calves of a very high standard at Bigwig – his EBV is simply exceptional: top 5% in mature cow weight; carcass weight top 5% in IMF; top 20% in carcass weight. His calves have weighed in between 32-36 kg consistently.
